Shah Rukh Khan’s most ambitious project yet ‘Ra.One’ has set a record for highest box office collection on second day. ‘Ra.One’ that failed to break the highest collection on opening day, a record set by Salman Khan’s ‘Bodyguard’, made up by grossing Rs. 25 crore on second day.

‘Ra.One’ managed to collected Rs. 15.5 crore on Diwali and with the inclusion of Tamil and Telugu versions Rs. 18.25 crore which is far below than ‘Bodyguard’ which had an opening collection of Rs. 21 crore on 2,700 screens, where as ‘Ra.one’ released with over 6,000 prints on 3,200 screens.

According to trade analyst Komal Nahata, the release of the movie on auspicious Diwali worked against its success.

“Releasing the film on the Diwali day itself has turned out to be a dampener. Diwali is an auspicious occasion. Most people prefer to stay at home. This could be a reason for the low collections on Day One. But looking at the festive mood, the figures are likely to escalate at the weekend,” Nahata said.

Komal Nahata also thinks it’s wrong to compare ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Ra.One’ so early in the day.

“It’s too early to compare. Salman’s film released on Eid, which is traditionally a bountiful period in terms of collections as most people throng to cinema halls then,” Nahata said.

Taran Adarsh, a well know trade analyst, who rated the movie 4.4 stars, is optimistic about its success.

“‘Ra.One’ is the most awaited film for SRK fans as it’s his first release in over a year after ‘My Name is Khan’. People will compare ‘Ra.One’ with ‘Bodyguard’, but one must remember the two films are as different as chalk and cheese. ‘Ra.One’s’ collections can escalate from the second day. Indeed, the entire weekend’s collections will decide its fate,” Taran Adarsh said.

‘Ra.One’ has already managed to gross £ 179,653 (Rs. 89.5 lakh) in the UK, and $ 34,946 (Rs. 18 lakh) in Australia on Day One. And out of all the three premiers in London, New York and Dubai, it received the best fanfare in Dubai.

The films budget is whooping Rs. 140- crore and Shah Rukh Khan spent Rs. 45 crore on promotion itself.

Nargis Fakhri in ‘Krrish 2’

Rakesh Roshan is having a tough time finding a female villain for his movie ‘Krrish 2’.

His original choice Chitrangda Singh walked out of the movie after reading the finished script and releasing that her character was nothing more than a cameo.

Rakesh Roshan later approached Jacqueline Fernandez who was very keen to work in the movie. But the actress refused to lock lips with Hrithik Roshan which led to her being dropped from the movie.

Now apparently the director has approached Nargis Fakhri for the role. According to sources, Rakesh Roshan is very impressed with Nargis Fakhri and her performance in the yet to be released movie ‘Rockstar’.

“Nargis really loved the script. The modalities are being worked out. It looks like Rakesh Roshan has finally found his heroine,” said a source to Daily Mirror.

“This is a bold role. And Nargis does not have any qualms about wearing a bikini or being intimate with Hrithik on-screen. Her physicality suits the character perfectly. This is exactly what Fernandez was supposed to do,” added the source.

Rakesh Roshan is not taking any chances this time and has a back up plan if things don’t go down well with Nargis Fakhri.

“Shooting begins next month and so, if Nargis is not finalized for the role, Rakesh has decided to offer it to Bipasha Basu,” the source concluded.

In a special episode to be aired this Saturday, Ranbir Kapoor along with the singer Mohit Chauhan will be visiting the sets of ‘Bigg Boss 5’ and interact with the contestants on the show to promote his upcoming movie ‘Rockstar’.

Whether Ranbir Kapoor will be entering the house or would he interact with them from the sets is yet unknown.

Sources say that Ranbir Kapoor is keen to talk to the female contestants especially because they are ‘trapped’ in the house with a handful of men. In fact it was Ranbir Kapoor who asked Mohit Chauhan to talk to Sanjay Dutt so that he could get a glimpse of the ‘Bigg Boss’ house and its housemates.

The makers of the show are keen to have Ranbir Kapoor aboard because they are sure that his presence on the show will show rocket their TRP’s.
